How to make an appointment for citizenship application

An appointment is mandatory for a Turkish citizenship application. Applications cannot be submitted without scheduling an appointment. Children under the age of 12 are not required to attend the citizenship application appointment.

Before the citizenship application, the foreign applicant must log in with their Foreign Identification Number (YKN) at https://randevu.nvi.gov.tr/ and schedule an appointment through the “Citizenship Procedures” menu.

Apostilled Documents

If your country is a party to the Apostille Convention, all documents obtained abroad must be apostilled. If your country is not a party to the Apostille Convention, a different legalization procedure must be followed.

For example, Iran is not a party to the Apostille Convention. In order for a civil registry document to be valid, it must first be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country and then approved by the Turkish Consulate.

Documents bearing an apostille or equivalent legalization must be translated by a sworn translator in Türkiye and notarized after arrival in Türkiye.
Question: If the Turkish Consulate already translated my document into Turkish through its sworn translator, is an additional translation required?
Answer: Yes. Even if the translation was completed by the Turkish Consulate abroad, it is not accepted directly. The document must be translated by a sworn translator in Türkiye and notarized again.

Can I Apply to Turkish Citizenship Without Coming to Türkiye?

In the early 2020s, this was possible. However, following the amendments made in 2024, applicants are required to be physically present during the Turkish citizenship application process. Even if you grant a power of attorney to a lawyer, you must personally attend the citizenship application.

You are only required to be physically present in Türkiye twice:
1- First, during the residence permit application prior to the citizenship application.
2- Second, during the citizenship application process for identity verification and signature procedures.

Therefore, it is not possible to complete the Turkish citizenship by investment process without coming to Türkiye.
